I love paradox. In the end (and I have taken some mighty convoluted journeys to get there!), it is always where “truth” finally resides. So I had to laugh when I was leafing through Tim Ferriss’s best selling book ”The 4-Hour Workweek” and spotted the chapter “The Low Information Diet.” Tim advocates eliminating most books and other media from your weekly diet - except, of course, his book! The self-serving part aside, he is right on the money. (No pun intended.)
I wish I had a nickel (OK, a buck) for every time an audience member says “I’m sure you are familiar with the work of...” or “Of course you heard about...” or “How does so-and-so’s theory apply to your ideas?” I momentarily feel ignorant, out of touch, uninformed or otherwise inadequate, then remember just how much information there is out there. I heard once (don’t know the source) that we take in more information in one day than folks in the 1800s took in during a life time. Wow!
